In the Fall of 1996, after almost 75 years of ministry, Chevy Chase Baptist Church was on the verge of closing. Financially bankrupt with dwindling membership, they made a desperate and courageous decision. They signed over the entire multi-million facility over to the DC Baptist Convention to attempt a last ditch effort to save the church.
Under the leadership of three appointed DC Trustees, the decision was made to attempt a “Fresh Start” to hire new leadership to try one more time. In April of 1997, the Freshours were hired to lead the “Fresh Start” (the name was only a coincidence).
Next week we will celebrate our 20 year anniversary of what can only be described as a miraculous resurrection of our beloved CCBC! To honor this historic event, during the month of April, we are having a “20/20 Vision Campaign”. We have set a financial goal to raise $20,000 to restore our damaged steeple and baptistry.
Many more details will follow – but we pray you will join us in making a sacrificial offering to thank and honor God for giving us a “Fresh Start”! Click here and designate your gift “Capital” to make a contribution today.
