The Power of a Name

“I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.” (Luke 10:18-20)

It’s comforting to know Satan and his demons cannot harm us; that we have power over them. Even demons obey us when we use His name! When life becomes challenging and difficult, don’t fight it in your name. Fight it in His!

As a child, I believed that Satan was simply a metaphor for human evil. But as I grew, studied my Bible and experienced life, I came to realize that Satan is indeed a real being, just as Jesus is!

John Milton’s classic work, Paradise Lost, is about Satan’s fall from heaven. That’s not just a great book of fiction. It’s what actually happened. Lucifer, the Light Bearer, wanted to be like God. We must be careful that we avoid acting the same way. We often do what we want and ask God to bless it. It’s so much better to ask God what we should do, do it, and know that it’s already blessed!

So, in the all powerful name of Jesus – I speak abundant blessings over you today!
